The program was the only eligible entity to receive these ARRA AmeriCorps funds under stipulations in the law. Using the funds, the program will place AmeriCorps members as advisors and mentors for Maine high school students in order to increase the number of students who enroll in college. 127241.00 Through service this quarter (July-Sept 2010) by AmeriCorps members: 205 clients received financial literacy training (YTD=2,004); 205 high school students with low college aspirations were supported by tutors, mentors, and career exploration guides (YTD=615); 133 college students served as volunteer tutors and mentors for high school students. This grant has an unexpended balance of $4,141 (3% of total award) that resulted from the sole eligible subgrantee spending less on project personnel than expected and budgeted. The final reimbursement to the subgrantee was processed October 1 and the $1,168.54 remaining in the grantee account after the payment (balance was drawn on estimated payment due; actual was less) will be returned to the federal agency by October 15. This award is complete and it is confirmed that no more ARRA funds will be expended.
