160208815 EM-18836-09-60-A-23 Grant 1600 1630 Y 16-0184 000 2009-04-01 Beginning in October 2008 True Textiles, a leading producer of panel fabrics, and fabrics for seating, wall coverings and cubicle curtains began a series of lay-offs in its three Maine manufacturing plants located in Guilford and Newport Maine. An initial group of 26 workers were laid-off in late October/early November 2008 and another 8 in December 2008. On January 15, 2009 the company announced that it would further reduce employment levels among its three manufacturing facilities in Guilford and Newport. Between January and February 2009 a total of 96 workers were laid-off. On March 9, 2009 the company notified the Rapid Response Coordinator for the Tri-County area of an additional 74 workers being laid off. Lay-offs to date total 204 workers. ARRA- National Emergency Funds are targeted to provide workers with critical retraining and support to prepare them for reemployment. 462096.00 125 of the 140 planned number of participants were enrolled (89 percent enrollment rate). Part time staff was retained to assist laid off workers who had not yet re-entered the labor market. Staff aided workers with developing job skills, training and general support services. The grant was under budget primarily due to less demand for support services than anticipated. All payments to vendors under this agreement have been made and we anticipate no claims against the $26,866.94 unexpended balance.
